My DD is 19mo and hasn't got many children her age to play with. The nearest toddler group is 8 miles away and because my DH takes the car to work, I can't get there. Is this damaging my DD?? I am signing her up for nursery in sept for 3 days a week when I will have the car but until then, I am the only one she has to play with etc.

No! I don't think kids this age 'play together' anyway. They may play alongside each other but not together. I don't think that happens until 3ish... I only went to those sort of groups for my own sanity and to get out of the house. Now I have 3 DC I don't go for my own sanity....its too much hassle!! She will love all the one on one time with you

I wouldn't worry too much, my nephew never went to a toddler group, started going to playgroup aged 3 and is the most sociable and outgoing 6 year old I know [proud aunty emoticon]
