3 year old irritable and whiney

My 3 year old daughter is very active.

She was going nursery 3 days a week 9-5.30pm and we increased it to 4 days a week 1.5 months ago.

At nursery she doesn’t have an afternoon nap, she has too much FOMO, even though she could benefit from a short 30 min nap. When she didn’t nap at nursery she would come home in a bad mood as she was exhausted and sometimes even fall asleep in the car on the way home. About a month ago this stopped and I felt like finally she may be ready to not need that nap as she’s coming home in a good mood and not falling asleep in the car despite not napping at nursery.

On weekends where we have lots going on and out and about she does have a nap (either in car or in buggy) but we have to force it as she will never say she wants a nap.

In the last 2 weeks she’s become increasingly tired, going to bed early she normally sleeps at 8pm but sometimes she’s falling asleep at 7pm which is very rare for her. She also become really whingy and irritable. It’s definately testing my patience!

She has a 3 month baby brother but has been amazing with him and I ensure I spend 1:1 time with her most evenings. We’ve also been talking about big school as she will be taking 4 plus assessments jn November.

Any ideas why this could be- is it just a 3 year old developmental phase?

Any advice appreciated. It’s just so unlike her to be tired and whiney.

She sounds bloody exhausted if I'm honest. Does she get much downtime at home? I think I'd be planning a few quiet days at the weekend.

Yes on Saturday /!: Sunday we have no plans or classes after 12, but she's not one to just sit and chill at home. Shes a busy body and doesn't sit still unless we put the TV on!
