Positive ASD stories

My DD is 27 months old, has just started at nursery 4 weeks ago. They have raised concerns about her lack of eye contact and engagement and isn’t settling in. Apparently she screams a lot and can get quite upset, they have reduced her hours as feel she isn’t coping. We have also just had our 27 month HV review and they felt she had ASD.

I did have a feeling she did, she jumps and skips a lot, claps her hands, struggles with transitions, can be difficult to get her attention and doesn’t interact with others apart from close family. She is the happiest and most loving little girl, she can say a lot of words but can’t communicate her needs and a lot of echolalia. Loves music and actions to songs.

We are just at the beginning of our journey and looking for a bit of hope in this dark time. Don’t feel like the current nursery can meet her needs. Does anyone have any positive stories about their LO flourishing in an alternative environment? And positive stories from diagnosis?

Thank you x

Lots of positive stories on reddit, especially for level 1, which your DD could be. I was looking myself, and it is actually quite encouraging.

Come on over to the SN Children Section. Lots of positives and support in there Flowers
