Hello everyone,
Im sure I’m not the only one here with a child that has blatant undiagnosed behaviour issues.
my child has a milder case of cerebral palsy. And the doctors have always said this will likely come with issues at school etc, currently on the years long wait for assessments.
He by no means needs a special school, but he just isn’t getting on well.
hes smart, capable and with a little bit of support is happy to do the work. However.. the last few months in school have had me pulling my hair out. They are calling me almost every day to tell me they are sending his work home because he is wandering out of the classroom and refusing to go back inside. He is 7.
he goes to afterschool club every day (single mum, and I have to work full time) but now they are phoning me and saying ‘sorry he can’t be at afterschool club because we don’t think he’s going to listen’
he is generally ok at home, has lost privelleges because of the drama with the school and Iv even tried to incentivise good days at school with rewards at home but nothing is working, I’m stuck in a loop where I can’t control what he does at school and don’t know how to improve this, the solution surely isn’t to send him home early (they have ‘excluded’ him one afternoon during actual school hours as he was being extra defiant about coming back into class) any advice would be extremely welcome.
