Leave the doors open, lol! Seriously though, like you said, I would encourage her to do it whilst you are there and say you'll help if she needs it but not until she's tried herself. Can't think of any other solution really, sorry!

She will grow out of it but I must admit it must be bloody anoying, especially since you know she is more than capable of doing it herself. Could you perhaps try telling her to have a go at opening it then rewarding her when she tries (even if she doesn't open it?) Perhaps chocolate buttons would be enough to pursuade her to give it a go! (bad habbit I know but after a week or so of doing it herself, you can withdraw the chocolate!)
