Hi, my DD is finding potty/toilet training quite challenging and I'm not sure how best to help her.
She's 2 and a half, on track in terms of motor and language development, goes to nursery a couple of days a week, and things are stable at home. This is our second shot at toilet training - the first time (a couple of months ago), we tried the doing-it-over-a-few-days approach and it was honestly a disaster. This time seems to be going better overall but we're kind of stuck at an in-between stage (and have been for a couple of weeks).
DD is great at recognising when she needs a poo, wants to use the toilet (not the potty!) for poo and tries to help clean herself too. She's really good at it and has only actually had one poo accident since starting potty training.
Wees, though, are very inconsistent. We can have days with just one accident or days with 4! Watching her, I think the issue is that she's not sufficiently motivated to go to the toilet/potty for a wee - she's not upset about wee accidents and will happily help clean up after one but doesn't seem to mind it happening. We've tried a sticker chart but she wasn't really interested in it. If we take her to the toilet, she'll happily sit on it but doesn't initiate it for wees. She gets lots of praise for sitting and for any wee that goes in.
It feels like we're in a bit of a stuck place at the moment and I'm not sure how to get out of it.
