Hi all.

DS was a very high needs baby. He is now a high needs 12m old. Screams and cries frequently throughout the day. I’ve been at breaking point numerous times in the last year, it hasn’t been much of a maternity leave. He wailed all day every day for about 8 months.

Does anyone who has been in this position have any advice on just getting through? When did it get better for you? I honestly feel like I’m going to lose my mind some days

To answer the questions I know I’ll get asked

  • he has been assessed medically. No allergies. Had silent reflux but was medicated and is now weaned off losec
  • hates slings and carriers
  • likes walks but not always practical
  • despite it all he is a very good sleeper
  • HV has no concerns RE developmental issues or disorders.
  • can stand wobbly, refuses point blank to crawl, so is technically immobile as not walking but expect that is on the way.

Non IGE allergies can't be picked up with a test, you need to do a process of elimination with diet

I genuinely don’t think it’s an allergy. He absolutely adores food. He has no issues with bowel movements. He is not crying in pain. He is crying in frustration. He balls up his fists and looks at me and screams. He honestly hates being a baby, that is the issue identified by GP, HV and me

It will pass then as soon as he is more mobile and has language. Brace yourself for another 6 months and then the dust should start to settle
