Potty training (3 year old)

Looking for some help 🙏. My little one has been refusing to even acknowledge toilets or potties since we first started talking about weeing on the potty 6 months ago.
He has a very wilful personality.
I have tried sitting down and talking to him about why we are doing it, he has watched his older brother do a wee on the loo, I have tried offering little treats as rewards. I am so worried we have seen no progress whatsoever and we only have 1 year till he's at school.
He is more than happy just weeing in the middle of the room (we have tried no pants and trousers on and no difference).
Has anyone got any more tips? Thanks in advance!

I'd try to relax about one year to school – a year is ages in the life of a small child, and they're very good at picking up adult stress about things. You have time.

Is he the sort of child where a bit of 'oh no, you're not big enough for that yet, that's only for big boys' is likely to work? Or alternatively, a very unbothered, well, the potty's here, you tell me when you're ready to learn to use it?
