is it normal for them to find it difficult to walk in the wellies the first time they wear them?

yes!! They look really funny when they wear them the first few times as they come up so far up their legs compared to shoes/trainers. Also check they are not too big as some are a bit more generous than others

they are a bit too big but the smaller size didn't fit so he's wearing 3 pairs of socks

Yes! DD kept 'walking out' of hers (inherited from DS) every time she tried to go up a step. Trouble is if they fitted as 'well' as shoes they would be hard/impossible to get on.

She loves them now - DD poddling around the garden in her jamas and wellies has me running for my camera . We do have the odd tantrum about taking them off when she comes inside though.

recently got a pair fo 18 month old, she love them

dd2 wore hers to death - they have actually worn out (didn't think that was possible for wellies!)
