Baby rolling over by choice but then crying?

My baby is 4 months old tomorrow and started rolling back to belly a week ago. She doesn’t do it in her sleep yet, thankfully, as she hasn’t yet mastered the rolling belly to back, although I think she’s close. The problem is every time I put her on her back, she immediately rolls to her belly - clearly consciously- but then grizzles and cries. I can’t work out why she’s getting upset and angry when she’s chosen to put herself in that position! If I gently roll her back she will burst into tears. Same reaction if I put her down for tummy time without her rolling herself. I don’t know what to do because she is exhausting and stressing herself (and me!)

This all sounds very normal OP. It can take a little while for them to be able to roll back Flowers
