3 year old fighting bedtime

Hi there, looking for some mum advice! My almost 3 year old has suddenly decided to fight bedtime ... like really fight! We have been having our usual bedtime routine (bath, teeth, story, sleep) never been much of an issue but now she's getting to end of story and changing her mind about bedtime, starts just excuses as to why she needs to get out of bed, then gets rude and starts shouting at me. I have been calming but firmly trying to deal with that then she goes of the charts crazy and starts trying to smack me - again it's a firm no hosting and try to remove myself from her being able to land one. She then goes loony hysterical half laugh half shout running to and from bed. Each time it's a no and put her back to bed which she immediately runs back out. It's then this consistently till she then starts crying/ sobbing and we have to do a whole calm down, breathing stuff and then she kind of just gives in and cuddles in her bed and just crashes. I am sure like everything this is some faze and I think she is getting overtired so I have been starting this drama earlier but its like a total different child - 90% of the time in the day she's good and we don't have any smacking certainly.
I could just do with some help, any tips for getting through this, ways of handling it, what to look out for that may have triggered this new behavior. (It's only been a week but after having mainly chilled bedtimes before this has thrown me and I am now hyper analysing my parenting abilities!)
