Friend lies

just looking for tips on how to handle this. My 7 year olds friend seems to be constantly lying. Lies seem to be limited to boasting about doing things eg going to a sports class that doesn’t exist.
My child of course believes what they are saying and tells me. I normally handle by saying that isn’t quite right, or they must be mistaken. But I don’t quite know how to handle it?
I don’t think the friend means any harm, but I don’t want my child to hurt by just believing everything they say.

I would just keep an eye on the tattles, all kids lie about harmless stuff like that! They wanna seem cool in front of their friends. Obviously though it becomes a much bigger problem when its lying about more serious things, so just keep an eye, see if your daughter comes out saying her friend is telling her more wacky stuff, and of course make sure your little girl knows not to lie too
