Hi all who may be reading,
For the last 14 months I have been on a difficult journey trying to find out why my 3 year old son (4 in October) is struggling. Regression in eye contact, speech delay and certain behaviours and sensitivities lead me to seek autism evaluation 12 months ago. He was not given a diagnosis, as didn't show repetitive behaviours, was concluded as "borderline". Exactly 12 months ago we started ABA therapy 10-6 hours per week privately, as we were desperate to start early intervention regardless not having diagnosis. Now that his speech (albeit very mechanical) is progressing slowly, certain behaviours remain. He is constantly seeking sensory stimulation, which makes me think he may have SPD. Is there anyone out here that has experienced the same, going through it or dealt with it already?
My son demands to be fully dressed even on the hottest day, he wants socks and jumper. He constantly chews on soft toys or his jumper sleeve. He loves laying on the carpet or bed just rolling around. He is very sensitive with foods and only eats his "safe foods". He easily gets upset with change of routine. It's his way or meltdown. He has attention deficit and struggles to focus. He looks a little wobbly when he runs, may have a slight coordination issue. He has wide vocabulary, but is unable to hold a dialog, however starting to respond to questions in 2-3 words now. I suspect he may be gestalt language processor. Otherwise he is very positive and loving kid, has no fear of new people which makes it easy with various therapy sessions.
It is very difficult to find a right support in the current coutry, so resorting to this forum to seek support ❤️
