DS is 3.5 and in the last week has said a few unkind things out of the blue. He is usually very loving. Can throw big tantrums but none of these instances were during a tantrum.
First we were out at the park I was chatting to a lady he came over to me and said "mummy you are ugly" (I was mortified) I said no we never say that to anyone that is really unkind. And he was smirking and said it again, "your face is ugly". I asked him where he had even heard that and he said he didn't know. We ended up leaving shortly after and I had another conversation in the car that it's so important that we use kind words to others and to ourselves and never call people unkind names.
Fast forward to today and he was playing fighting with DH and he said to him "daddy your face is disgusting" DH had a chat with him and said that was unkind and we must remember to use kind words.
Later on I was playing with him and he went to say "your big fat tum..." and stopped himself there so I again said no and this time he hid his face in the bed.
He then said OK I'll call myself ugly and started laughing, to which I said being kind includes being kind to himself.
I have no clue where any of this has come from, we do not speak like this at home, he has an older sister but she's never said anything like this, I am appalled at the thought of him saying this to anyone else, and wondering where it has come from suddenly.
Anyone been in the same situation/ any advice?
