Yesterday afternoon we went to FNAC to buy books for my stepsons.

After choosing books, my elder stepson wanted to look at iPods and went to the basement of the shop (huge store on five floors), taking my daughter (3.5) with him, while my partner and I paid for the books and my younger stepsons looked at computer games.

When we joined DSS1 and DD in the basement, she had chosen herself one purple and one pink iPod cover and was wanting to buy an iPod and a mobile telephone...

On the way home we were walking past the pharmacy and she wanted to go in to buy herself some make-up.

And this morning when she was getting dressed in her pants and vest she asked me to buy her a bra .

i have one just the same... she has no interest in toys and it seems is only motivated by the prospect of new shoes and hair scrunchies . Nail varnish being the pinnacle. Even worse is she rejects anything that isn't pink (and plastic). The amazing thing is that we have done everything we can to steer her away from pink and fluffy and 'girly' but without giving it the lure of 'forbidden' and give her loads of stimulating things to do but just not interested. It does worry me where this might end up but am hoping it's just a phase. I don't ever remember being fascinated by pink in the same way, in fact you couldn't part from a pair of navy blue magic roundabout dungarees!

Mine isn't into pink plastic particularly - she's just in a big hurry to grow up .

Where has my baby gone?
