Not babbling

Is a 15 month old that doesn't babble much of a concern? She makes noises like humming and grunting but she's never really been a babbling baby. She has no words yet either she's dad dada a hand full of times but that's all

Is she developing ok in all other aspects?

Can she follow simple instructions? Can she hear if you call from another room? Does she respond to loud noises in the typical way?

Does she wave/point/communicate in other non-verbal ways (e.g. putting her arms up if she wants to be picked up)?

@mummytotwoxo I had one who didn't speak at 15 months as week and I can remember how worrying it was.

How does she do on this simple progress checker for 12 month olds?

She's actually very delayed in many areas still, she doesn't understand anything yet, no response to name, there was a point she was clapping but it's difficult to get it out of her now, she an extremely chilled out baby she's the absolute best, doesn't make a fuss for anything, she's always been very calm and content, she can give kisses, and she's leant how to climb on the sofa 🫠 but struggles still.

I did just look at this Thankyou, it suggests that she could do with support in a handful of areas

Ok so I think it's time to talk to your HV. Has she done the 12 month check yet and what did she say?

How is your little one now darling? My little boy is 9 months old and he barely babbles- we call him the silent assassin as he's always up to no good but he does it in silence!
