DS is 20 months and has always been quite a sensitive child but very suddenly over the last couple of days he has been really jumpy and scared easily.
It's not just about the volume of a noise - some loud noises he is fine with but it's the most random things like someone knocking at the door, someone walking in from another room, someone coming down the stairs.
I definitely don't think he is pretending or playing a game because when it happens he seems really genuinely very frightened. He will startle, drop what he's holding and run as fast as he can away from it. Sometimes he recovers quickly if immediately reassured but other times he will cry a lot.
Nothing has happened that I can think of to cause it. Anyone ever encountered anything similar?
