My youngest son is almost 2, he has been able to understand instructions now for quite a while, definitely at least 3-4 months. From the top of my head, these would be things like ‘pick that up and put it in the bin’, ‘get a book to read a story’.

He has been able to understand ‘shoes on’ for almost a year.

Hello.
Usually it's simple instruction with gestures by 15 months. (Give me the book, while pointing to the book)
Simple 1step- instructions without gestures by 18 months. (Bring me the book, possibly also retrieving it from another room)
Related 2-step instruction (eg. Take the book and put it on the table/or give it to daddy) by 24 months.
