6 y/o boy smitten with his "girlfriend"

My lovely DS (6) having been a boy's boy until now has become smitten with a little girl in his class. She is v sweet and tbh it's a relief from having his boy friend's round being competitve and fighting about evrything.

But its a bit strange hearing him say that he loves her, she is his girlfriend and that they are going to get married (in 20 years time - phew!!)

Is this a phase?

Awww - I'm actually quite jealous, 'cos my 6 year old boy has hit the "girls are yuck" phase, where girls and all things girly are to be shunned. It's soooo silly and I think quite sad that from here until he hits puberty he doesn't want to play with any girls, invite them to parties etc.

I'd enjoy it while it lasts!

Ds has had a "girlfriend" since he was 4 - they are going to get married and have children and live with his teddies in a two storey house. She is now the girl next door quite literally.

I'm sure they will have a row and divorce when they are 7.

bless him! I also have a ds who is besotted with a girl in his nursery class, they are very sweet, having a kiss and a cuddle at hometime etc

I enjoy it while it lasts, and hope he isn't doinmg the same in 10yrs time.

Hope he is! She's the perfect daughter in law.

My dd went through this a couple of times between 5 and 6 and is now (at 7) on her 4th boyfriend.

She says she loves him, but as he's her 4th bf, I'm guessing it probably doesn't have legs!

It's probably just a phase for your little boy, I'm sad to say. Enjoy it while you can though....

Probably a phase, but v cute while it lasts. My DD2 is 8 now and has grown out of her 'boyfriends' but DD3 who is 5 has a serious fiance. She told me recently that when they get married they are going to buy a camper van and paint it red and orange stripes and live at the beach all summer.
