Hi all, my girl is 3 at the end of november and the past few months have been very hard to control when we take her out. She constantly just runs off and gets extremely upset when leaving certain activities. She is well behaved apart from this however it is making me dread taking her out on my own as just ends up in tears everytime. I have tried a countdown which sometimes works but isnt consistent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I don’t have much advice but my DS is exactly the same. He can be very difficult to manage when we go somewhere, tantrums when leaving places and he runs off as well. I am just hoping it’s a phase that will eventually pass. What I found helps us a little is if we say bye bye to places that we are leaving, so we will say “bye bye swings” for example, in that way I think it helps him to understand that it is time to leave. Or try to distract with something else that might catch their attention.

Great idea thank you! My friend who works in a nursery said sometimes getting an actual timer helps so they can see the numbers. Its just so draining as the day starts great then ends up in a diaster! Even harder that she hates staying indoors so struggle with that aswel
