1 nap a day

My little boy has just turned 1 and the day of his bbq we kept him up so he had a lunch nap of 2 hours, as his party started at 2. He went to bed about 7pm and managed this pretty well.

Since his party I have tried to move back to his normal routine of his 10am morning nap, followed by 2:30pm afternoon sleep. He’s been completely refusing the morning nap, appearing more awake than ever and happily going down at 12. I’ve just been a bit worried that it’s a long time to be awake from 2pm-7pm. He’s been very unsettled in the afternoons but he’s also teething terribly.

When did your babies drop to one nap? I wanted him to be down to 1 when he starts nursery in September but I don’t want him to be overtired.

Pretty much from 12 months. I've seen posters say it's too young but both of mine weren't coping with two naps any longer.

There is usually a transition period though and they're likely to be cranky after tea for a while.
