What does your 16 mo like doing??

DD is starting to lose interest in her toys and I get the feeling that she is more ready for activities or 'something'. Does anyone have any ideas??

dd2 is 19m

she loves playing with sand
being at the park
has just got interested in scribbling with pens (rejects crayons wholeheartedly, unfortunately)
watching her nursery rhyme dvd
singing and doing action songs
playing with water/swimming
soft-play/climbing etc

DD is 18 months now but two months ago she became obsessed with taking things apart, so we gave her lego and stuff and she liked that.

Also unpacking boxes or cupboards is always a favourite.

Finally, put some music on and dance around - she'll copy you - it's hilarious!

DD is 17 months and over the last few months she got into crayons, water (give her a washing up bowl on the floor or activity table with water and some cups/rubber ducks), she likes to play outside - I pur her wellies and coat on and goes in the garden with a push along toy, ball, walks up and down a step again and again and again etc!! Oh and her thing at the moment is books.

Hope you get some useful ideas.

He adores being outdoors.

His best ever toy has been a football - a cheap lightweight one. He'll spend ages pottering around with it, indoors or out.

We've also got some of those flower windmill things in the garden, which he likes whizzing around too.

He loves going to the park, climbing up the steps onto the slide, and going on the swings.

He loves swimming.

But mostly he just loves pottering about outside. We're lucky because we live in a very quiet village where we can potter to our hearts content!

When he has to be indoors, he's getting really into his books, and he adores 'In the Night Garden'

He likes going to soft play places, but insn't so thrilled at the type of toddler groups where they just have loads of toys out - like your DD he's quite bored of toys ATM.

Instead of playing with stuff, he wants to be doing stuff, IYSWIM.

DD is 17 months. I stand her up on a chair at the kitchen sink with some plastic cups and plates and she happily plays for about an hour!

She also likes swimming, and i take her to a music class once a week too. Oh and yes agree with bernard about scribbling with felt pens - she looks like this - , if i try and fob her off with a crayon!

DD2 will lob a crayon across the room if she is dared offered one!

It is because she is DD2, I suppose. She basically wants to do everything her big sister does

yes, youre right. Thats why she hates all her toys - shes knows they are for babies. All she wants to play with is magnetix, nintendo ds and pokemon cards. aaarrrrghhhhh!

You have hit the nail on the head with her wanting to do stuff rather than play with stuff.

I have just managed to keep her occupied for half an hour with a bowl full of bubbles and wooden spoons - an idea I nicked from on here somewhere!
