Hiya
so my son has just turned 17 months and he used to say a lot of words regularly but now he only says about 3 words regularly

At the minute he’s picking up random words really quickly like almost every day he says a new word but then he doesn’t repeat them again it’s like he’s forgotten it
He babbles all day every day though

Just wondering
1 if any other parents are going through this ( like is it normal and I’m just over worrying)

  1. If this is something to be concerned about and I should speak to the health visitor about it

Sometimes they can slow down progress on one skill if they are learning a new skill, like walking but it's always worth speaking to the HV if you think he's lost some speech.

You could fill in the 18 month Ages & Stagess* and ask her to score it. Remember though that your DS is at the very youngest end for this assessment.

Thank you
yeah he’s been trying to get more confident in his walking and climbing so I think he might be focusing on that at the minute but I’ll see how he goes over the next 2 weeks and if he’s still not back to talking as he was or similar I’ll do what you said to do
❤️
