Is this the right place to post?

My LO (4wks) is due to have his snipped on Wednesday, has anyone else got any experience with Tongue ties?

My LO got his snipped at just over 3 weeks. Do you have any questions? It bled a bit but was over very quickly and the bleeding stopped pretty much straightaway too. And now he loves sticking his tongue out! :P

My DD2's was snipped at 9 days old. Very straightforward. She was away from me for less than five minutes, came back crying, but had a feed straight away and drifted off to sleep.

No ill effects - and it helped her feed so very, very much better . She's 2.5 now and her tongue looks completely normal.

PS - assuming you are having it done to aid breastfeeding, you might want to pop into the breastfeeding forum for help on any specific questions.

My ds had his snipped at around 4 weeks, was pretty much as angel described.

ahhh great responses!

I am having it done to help with the feeding, all was going well till about a week ago and now my poor nipples are shredded.. not to mention LO gets so frustrated at losing the latch and not getting what he wants, might just pop into BF to see whats on offer!!

Those with LO's that have had it done, did it take long for the baby to adjust to feeding? I mean did they have to 'relearn' how to latch on?

Your situation sounds similar to mine, in that my baby was actually managing to feed quite well, but her latch was too shallow, so I was getting sore.

It didn't take her long to work out how to latch on better, once it was done. Maybe a couple of days? From my point of view, it was more comfortable straight away.

My experience was like Smithagain including the the feeding being less painful immediately!

My dd had her tongue hanging out of her mouth from then until she got her bottom teeth.

good good good!! cant wait, i dont want him to have to go through the pain of it, even though i know theres not a lot of pain, hopefully....but i do want him to have it done for so many reasons!

Looking forward to BF so much more comfortably when its done and for him not to be so cross about not getting his food as he wants! THANKS LADIES for your experiences!
