ds (10 weeks old) has developed a habit of scratching the back of his head or pulling his hair there with his right hand. He now has lots of scratch marks, and we're worried whether it means he's stressed or has an itchy scalp. He has cradle cap and some mild eczema (I think), but not in the area he scratches. Any ideas why he's doing this and how we can help stop him scratching so badly?

scratch mits and if they don't stay on use socks and pull em up to his elbows. remember to change em regularly, leave them off for some time during the day and keep his nails short

you could also start putting emolient cream on, won't do any harm and might just sooth the itching (we use aveeno, expensive but works really well)

there's load of threads with excellent advice about on baby excema if you do a search
