Hello lovelies sorry for the long post
hope you are all doing well . I am a FT mum to a wonderful DD of 17 months . The reason why I am seeking advice is that I am slightly worried about her milestones . I will try and make it as clear as possible. She started walking properly at 12 months and she currently has 46 understandable words under her belt . She is very good at imitating and following my point when I say “ look at something “ . She brings toys to me all the time and does pretend play ( feed Dollies , pretend cleaning , phone to her ear , stir the spoon in the cup etc ) . . She is a very good sleeper and very affectionate. From a social point of view she is a bit shy but runs after other kids when she seems them , she smiles at strangers etc . She is a very good sleeper and napper . No . She is 16 months but not a good pointer . She points at her body parts , points at dogs , things in books , or outside but DOESN’T point to request . She reaches with both hands when she wants something or comes towards me .

things that worries me .

  1. she responds to her name when not engulfed in other things like running , or watching tv . Is that normal ?
  2. 2 ) not a great pointer
  3. 3 ) bit of toe walking
  4. sometimes she stares at me and then look away .
  5. she eats everything but doesn’t tend to self feed . She prefers me to don it
  6. kind of important one this one : she licks her hand occasionally? I have heard iits an asd trait
  7. many many thanks to all who takes the time to reply

I’m not and expert but been down the autism rabbit hole with my 13 month old son. Your daughter sounds advanced to me. Her language and understanding is amazing and she points. I don’t think you have any concerns here. My son points to request but doesn’t point to show much yet. I think pointing to show is more advanced.
