2 yr old dummy & sleep regression

Just looking for some tips!

We have two sons, 2 & 1yr old

3 weeks ago we took the dummy off our 2yr old and he hasn’t slept in the day since. At first he was fine sleeping at night but that has now stopped in the past week or so too. We aren’t sure if it’s just because of the dummy, a sleep regression or both. Sleeping at night time is easier for him than day naps so we don’t feel too concerned about that but the sleeping in the day is a real issue, it leads to him being overtired and acting out, usually violently towards us or our youngest, pushing, biting, pulling etc. throwing toys and being destructive. When he is violent we use time outs but he just doesn’t seem phased by them. We don’t do screens or TV so we can’t that away. We have tried numerous things to help him sleep in the day, blacking out windows, driving till he falls asleep and carrying him to bed (he wakes up as soon as he is in his room and won’t go back to sleep), we have quiet time before he goes for a nap, all of things! We don’t want to give the dummy back for daytime naps because he will just want it at night. At the moment we put him down for a nap after lunch (we have tried numerous nap times to find that sweet spot) and walk away, leave him for an hour (this he usually spends running around his room playing quietly) then go and get him but you can see he’s just absolutely shattered and very emotional.

How should we approach this? Should we sleep train him for naps? Is there something we are missing? I’ve ordered a reward chart but really I’m at a loss!

Any tips or help would so very very appreciated!

a very tired mum x
