Conjunctivitis and swollen lids

Maternal paranaoia creeping in but my wee 9 month old son has conjunctivitis - just got drops from GP, but one of the eyelids now looks slightly swollen compared with the other - now getting paranoid he may be developing infection of the skin around the eye - is it normal for the lids to be a bit swollen?

My dd had conjunctivitis loads when she started nursery and its normal for the eyes to look puffy and very red inside the lower eyelid.

The drops are brilliant (if you can get them in!) and I expect by tomorrow morning you will notice an improvement.

I agree with amiandlils, the drops for conjunctivitis do work quickly. However, I recently had a swollen eyelid (no conjunctivitis) that was also red and hot. The GP said it was an infection of the skin and can be serious.

Is your DS's eyelid hot? If so I'd see the GP tomorrow if the drops don't bring the swelling down.
