He has lost interest in everything else and I'm just a bit worried that he gets bored on the floor.

I sit with him and encourage him and try and get him to come to me, but should I try to stop him for a couple of hours and do something else?

He isn't even that interested in being in his door bouncer, it's only when I pop him back down on the floor he seems enthusiastic... I worry about understimulating him

I don't understand?
You're worried because he wants to learn to crawl?

Youcannotbeserious · 07/04/2008 11:28

me either? Sounds natural......

he's around 6 months and found something new to do, surely?

ItsNotYouItsMe · 07/04/2008 11:32

Noooo, not worried about him wanting to learn, just worried that 2 hours shuffling about on the floor isn't exciting enough. But if I put him anywhere else he just gets all impatient - we have an inflatable ring covered in fabric for him to sit in, with toys attached, so I put him in there to answer the door, he used to love it, but just stretched and tried to wriggle out.

Perhaps I can't believe it doesn't get boring.

It does get boring, but only for you. Leave him to it. You don't need to be stimulating him the whole time. Read the paper. He'll let you know when he's had enough.

You lucky, lucky lady! Enjoy the time he wants to spend on the floor as ds is 8 months and constantly wants to be in our arms and walking around with us. Put your feet up and relax a bit! Keep talking to him though or else he may get a bit lonely. He will lwt you know when he wants something else. Do you put toys/ baby books down for him to look at and hold?

Sounds fine to me though- you have the kind of baby that I ordered but there must have been a mix up!

My dd started to crawl at 6months and that was all she wanted to do for ages.

He's not even 6 months. Mine were very mobile early on, walking at between 8.5 and 10 months. We never had any crawlers before 8.0 months. Sitting up with support at 5 months and without at 6 monhts. These were all very early milestones though.
