My 9 year old daughter has been referred for a adhd and asd assessment. So far we have only had a phonecall to inform me that they have accepted the adhd referral but there wasn’t enough evidence for them to accept asd after speaking about my daughter they decided to send the asd referral to the triage team to hopefully accept it too. My question is that is there anyway adhd referrals can be sped up amongst the huge waiting lists? Her behaviour is very concerning and out of control and I’m desperate! I’m not sure how to cope with her behaviour whilst waiting god knows how many months/years for a assessment/diagnosis!

If you're in england, ask your GP if the right to choose scheme is an option. Its where the NHS pays a private company for a diagnosis.

Yes I am in England I will ring my gp tomorrow thankyou. I’ve never heard of this, is there a certain criteria to be met to be eligible?

Hey there, in terms of managing symptoms take a look at this podcast.

And also look up Georgia Ede on how diet impacts the brain and mental health. Best of luck.

Don't do Keto diet for adhd, that's pseudoscience!
Keto diet was found to be only applicable in kids with epilepsy and in order to truly do keto diet, they are reduced to eating whipped cream with every meal, otherwise they are not doing proper keto diet. Don't do any diet without advising with medical professional.

Can I ask what behaviours are shown ? I have a 12 year old daughter in waiting list for assessment and starting to wonder if some behaviours shown are her taking advantage of the “special” treatment we allow her compared to her sibs

Sorry for the late reply! My daughters symptoms are her impulsiveness, she acts without thinking and goes from a calm 0 to 100 angry within seconds, does not stop talking and constantly interrupts conversations and won’t stop until I acknowledge her and answer her first, very impatient and will get frustrated if she has to wait ( me making her a drink has to be done the second she asks me). She’s also very demanding and likes to try and be in control, when on electronics she has to have the volume louder . Aggressive behaviours during meltdowns she will kick walls, scream as loud as she can pull my hair, attack me and her siblings. We have a lot of things in the house that go missing too! The list is endless 😂😂
