Suggestions for e-book(-ish) device for my toddler

I have an almost 3 year old who loves books and i used to spend quite alot of time sitting with him and reading his favourite books and he used to enjoy the illustrations as well.
Now that i have a 4 month old i barely get any time to read more than a couple of books with my toddler and i dont want him to lose interest in them either.
It will be his birthday next month and j was trying to find something that he can use to read books but i can only find audio books..

I wanted something alittle more interactive, like a book that has illustrations and a narrator but all i managed to find was sonething called the vox block which is good but its just audio.. no illustrations.

I did think maybe we could try kindle but again those are just stories being narrated and nothing to really look at to get the imagination going.

He is slightly speech delayed (due to being the only child) so being able to look at the pictures as the story goes along would help him link them together with the narrator to understand the story fully.

Please can anyone suggest something similar to what i am looking for?
Im surprised nobody has thought of creating anything lile this.. like a virtual book that has a story teller x

Sorry for the long post xx
Thank you

I would like to also add that i do still read wirh him, just not as much as i used to so it would be a great tool to fill in those gaps in the days when he wants a book read to him amd i am alittle busy with baby x :)

Sleep deprived mum here so apologies if I'm missing the point - but are you not basically describing the many YouTube videos of people reading stories to kids with the pages shown on the video as they go along? 🤷

MochaBear · 22/05/2024 20:17

@Everythingwinniethepooh similar but youtube uses ads and also its only accessible online also i dont like the idea of the video suggestions being visible and easily accessable so its easy for a kid to go from reading onto cartoons and get distracted etc. (We dont let him watch too much cartoons he only watches meekah and ms rachel if anything) thats why i was wanting something thats just focused on books

My hubby also just mentioned he tried it with our son once and he managed to get out of full screen and saw one of ms rachel's vids and just wanted to watch her 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ah fair enough. Actually, just realised I saw something on Dragon's Den the other day which might be more what you're looking for? https://sooperbooks.com/

You can read or listen to the stories and it looks like you can scroll through and see the pictures as you go. It's free and all on their website, so not connected to YouTube or anything.
