Hiya just seeing if any other mums have gone through this or going through this so I've been told my son sounds like he has sensory processing disorder but waiting for him to be seen but he don't eat he does generally drink milk but will eat the skin off a sausage once a week I've tried everything but I've noticed today while trying him with pizza he wants the pizza but don't want to be dirty so we give him a fork but he won't eat it with the fork I keep wiping his hands after a bite but he's getting that frustrated he then don't want it . Please any advice would be great

Hi there.

There can be so many reasons why children don't eat from a sensory perspective. It can be either to do with touching the food or the taste or smell of the food. For my own daughter I cut her food in smaller pieces and use cocktail sticks for her to pick it up with. She also is very particular about how things taste and prefers bland food. For your son bento picks could work as they are not as sharp as cocktail sticks. I have seen some cute animal ones on Amazon which might be interesting and that way your son doesn't have to touch the food. I also came across a website called Sensory Help Now which has free parent courses and resources including a course which includes strategies to introduce new foods.
