Just wondered if anyone else has experience of a tall child. ds2 is just 5 and 122cms which makes him about the height of a 7yr old. In fact he's the same size as ds1 and people often think they're twins. Should I be worried? He's always been tall but people keep saying it will even out - not yet! I wondered about Marfan syndrome but he is in proportion. Also, he's had behavioural problems which makes me wonder if all is well. Esp as not much height in family (only a tall uncle).

I am no expert but I wouldn't worry too much. My cousin is 6"odd and his parents are only 5'3 and 5'7. I was size 14, size 7 feet and 5'6 in primary 7 - then I slowed down. We all grow at different rates.

What would you be worried about?

DH is 6'7. He was 6ft at 13.

He's normal.

Well... in a developmental sense. ()

My DD is exactly the same. She is also 5 years old and he same height as a 7 yr old, quite often in aged 8 clothing. She has no growth issues that we are aware of and no health prof has ever seemed unduly concerned by her stature.

DH and I are fairly average height - I am 5'7", DH is 5'10".

My older 2 DS's (now teens) are both short/small for their age.

Don't worry too much

My DD, 4.6yo and 109cm, is almost the same height as her friend who is 2,5 years older.

Sounds like I'm worrying unecessarily then. It's just when people comment . Also, he's VERY physical and sometimes it's hard work for me as I'm not that big (5ft 5 and about 52kgs) so he's hard to handle. I'll just concentrate on the future when he's towering above me, a tall and handsome figure!

yes my dd2 was 2 last week already in 3/4 clothes and weighs 2 1/2 stone ! ( ish weighed athome on the scales) people think she is an older child with a learning diff because her speech is that of a 2yold. !

That's the hard thing when people expect more of them. He's big boned too so is generally, well, big! And with behavioural probs his size has always seemed more of an issue than it really is, i suppose.
