Please help me manage my 4 year olds behaviour

Hi, I’m really struggling to manage my four year olds behaviour. She is normally very sweet and kind but lately she is just not listening to anything I say. She won’t get dressed for school (or let me help her). I’m worried I haven’t put enough boundaries in place. I often say there will be consequences if you don’t do as I ask and she starts smiling saying ‘what next?’

I feel like I’m failing her - I know kids need boundaries. Does anyone have any tips or advice?

thanks so much.

I don't have any advice I'm sorry but I'm going through the same with my 4 year old. It's a very recent thing where she does not listen to us and is being very cheeky which is very unusual for her. She does suffer from constipation and gets very tired so I'm assuming it's somewhat related to that but it's very difficult isn't it!

@Tiddlesem yes it’s very hard. I feel like I’m walking on egg shells not to set her off but I also realise by doing this I am giving her a lot of power.

constipation will probably effect her mood - I find drinking lots of water and warm drinks should help ease things.

All my 4 year olds liked sticker charts at that age.
Choose one thing she isn't doing and if she does it quickly well she gets a sticker on the chart that day and at the end of the week if she has enough she get a treat.
