Hi, my 10 week old has suspected CMPA however I’m unsure.
A few weeks ago he started having some bloody mucus in his stools a couple of times a day so we took him to the GP and they suggested it could be CMPA but did a stool sample to check it wasn’t an infection. Other than the change to his stools there were no other symptoms, he’s a very content baby that burps well, rarely sicks up anything or showing any other signs.
The sample results were clear and after another GP visit last Thursday they prescribed him SMA Althera for a couple of weeks. He started this on Tuesday. Last Thursday was also the last day he had any blood in his nappy.
Since starting the new milk he’s more fussy, he’s more frequently bringing up milk, he passes the most awful wind(smells like rotten eggs), and his poo has turned to liquid dark green. None of this happened before the new milk.
He was originally on Kendamil which he happily drank, only brought up a tiny bit with the odd burp, wind was normal level of smelly, and his poos were a a mustard/brown colour and soft but not liquid.
Is this still likely to be CMPA and his gut adjusting or should I try him back on Kendamil or another shop bought formula? I know it can’t take a bit of time for the gut to adjust but it seems bizarre that he only had one symptom before and now he’s on the milk supposedly to help he’s getting worse.
