Dd needs a bra. When I was her age, we went to M&S or BHS. Where do you recommend for a first bra?

What size? Petit Bateau do sweet starter bras for the very young and small breasted. Not sexual at all. Matching knickers.

i took my daughter to m&s for hers they were really helpfull and have a good range of starter bra's

PrimulaVeris · 28/03/2008 18:46

I did same for my DD recently - M&S, every time. Also can browse and order online if your local store doesn't have full range.

sorry if this sounds stupid but how much does your daughter have to fill but this bra?
my daughter has started asking for one but im not sure she is ready.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2008 18:59

the term 'starter bra' makes me smile

PrimulaVeris · 28/03/2008 19:01

Mine doesn't fill it but she's beyond crop top iykwim

M&S do one that's bra-shaped, and IS a bra, but it's sort of smaller than AA though it's sized an AA.

If she thinks she's ready, no harm in getting her a bra (and might stop her getting teased if she's worried about it)

arionater · 28/03/2008 19:08

When I was about 10 a friend of my mother's bought me some pretty camisole top things - not sure how to describe them - which were a really good mid-way point between vests and bras, I remember feeling very sophisticated and grown up! For an actual bra, M&S is probably best (and least embarrassing for her too). Don't do what my mother did and mistake a suspender belt for a 'starter bra' for my little sister (something to do with the minimal triangles of fabric at the top of the straps I presume!)

Glad it's still M&S! Thanks for that. Don't know what size, not huge yet (although she thinks she is). Will just go and have a look and a try on.
