My son has been doing fine but is speech delayed and gets anxious around other tots at daycare as he has not had experience with other children his age much due to being the only child in the family.. his daycare advised portage for him (and speech therapy) and i decided to go ahead but havent started the sessions yet.. can someone explain what happens.

Everytime i research portage it comes up information about it that is directed at children on the spectrum or with ADHD..

Did your kids have it even though they were neurotypical? My son doesnt display any signs of ASD nor ADHD as far as i know so I am worried as to what may have made them decided he needed portage? I asked them and they just keep saying it will help him and it will be so so beneficial 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • I would like to point out its more of a language delay rather than a speech as he has a large range of vocabs but he struggles to understand sometimes and struggles making 3 word sentences

They don't have to have ADHD or ASD to have portage. As far as I understand they just have to have a delay if done kind which you've said your DS does.

@CadyEastman thank you for your reply.. thats what i thought as well but if you look up portage on google its aleays giving me websites that make it sound like its something that is directed more towards children who have adhd or asd thats why it got me thinking. Also others who have made threads about portage were only those who had kids that were on the spectrum or adhd etc.
