8 yo ds hormones or what?

Lately, my 8 almost 9
He has been having mood swings of sort. His mood can change in a flick of a switch.
He's been cheeky arrogant and quite aggressive at times.
Is this just a phase?

Would love to hear others experience as my 8 year old is going through a rough stage too and I'm wondering if it's hormone related as well.
