Does preschool help?

Hey! Just wanted to know if going to preschool daily helped with your child’s behaviour??

my daughter is 3.5 and I am struggling with her behaviour a little- she has been having a lot of tantrums/generally whinging/complaining a lot (the usual joys of a toddler!😂 but very amplified/increased lately to the point where it is really affecting us all!)

I really am thinking about whether to put her into preschool- our local one only offers 5 days a week (mornings or afternoons) and I’m really debating putting her in for the morning sessions daily- I don’t know whether that might help her behaviour by giving her a bit of routine/more stimulation, and also make me appreciate our time together more/cope with her a bit better if we’ve had a break from each other?

just to add she does currently go to private nursery 2 full days a week whilst I work; but the daily preschool is an idea I’ve been thinking about- I just want us all to be happy and enjoy our time together!

Personally I don't think it will help. She'll be doing preschool type activities already at Nursery. Plus if you put her into preschool each morning you only get to spend the afternoon with her, when she's likely to be tired.

When she tantrums, does she usually vomit out of it in 5 minutes or so?

@CadyEastman i hadn’t actually thought about the fact she would just be tired, that’s really true!

and it’s not been usual toddler tears that are over within 5 minutes anymore- these are really intense, long outbursts which she has been having lately, lasting around 20 minutes or so each time generally. Her whole mood seems to have changed- she used to be generally happy most of the time and only have a little bit of a tantrum-ish side, whereas now she seems unhappy at least 60% of the time 😩

I think if she's generally unhappy and tantrumming for 20 minutes it might be worth doing the 42 month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages.

How is she in Nursery? Have they got any concerns?
