My little guy just turned 3. He does have some speech and fine motor delays, but has been in OT and speech and has shown tons of improvement. He is extremely smart and Up until now he has been a very happy go lucky kid, and his tantrums, while present, have been very short and quick and he just moves on.
So he was sick last week with a stomach bug and he got to watch a lot of TV (which he usually is outside most of the day so that was a different change of pace). He is now better and for the last few days he has been super angry. Throwing big tantrums and fits. He likes to scratch when he's angry or upset about something, which I didn't make a big deal out of it because it wasn't aggressive..but now he was scratching aggressively and hitting, along with screaming and crying when he doesn't get his way (such as me turning the TV off and setting the remote out of his reach). I know this is normal for toddler development, he's sharing his big emotions in his own way but just curious, how do other parents deal with it? I'm pretty calm by nature and I don't like to yell at him, and I've literally just been turning him around to let him be frustrated somewhere else. When he's done I give him a hug and talk to him and basically acknowledging his emotions and feelings. He is my first born and I wasn't around little kids a lot when I was younger. I would love to hear some insight from more experienced moms..
