My 18 m.o. used to eat everything as a baby but for the last month or two usually won’t really eat at mealtimes. I don’t think it’s a food aversion more that she doesn’t have the patience to sit and eat in her high chair.
we’ve tried eating with her, talking to her while we she eats, spoon feeding her, letting her feed herself - usually this will get a few mouthfuls down her but once she doesn’t want any more she won’t touch it. The only thing that consistently works better is if she is watching something though this isn’t a habit we want to get into and only resort to it if we’re really concerned about how little she’s eaten across the day. She does have two snacks a day so maybe now we look at cutting those down?
when she refuses food I stay calm, tell her that’s fine and take it away from her - I don’t offer alternatives or give her anything sweet after (unless she eats well). I try to put a food I know she likes on the plate but this is never guaranteed to work and often she will then only eat that and won’t touch anything else on her plate.
has anyone got any tips for dealing with this kind of behaviour?
