Hi All

my 14 week old baby boy cries but no tears. I have only seen tears twice. I’m quite concerned. I have been told before that children with asd cry without tears? He was just over 3 weeks early. Any help advice wld really be appreciated.

thanks
Ama

I am no expert but I was once told that babies don't cry tears for the first few months unless they're genuinely upset - could be an old wives tale, but crying at that age is the only way they can communicate! I've also just googled it and it says that the tear ducts are still forming for first few months, and given that your child was early this could still apply.

Hi @nomchonge1
Thanks so much for your response. That makes sense. My anxiety through the roof worrying about everything.

It could possibly be blocked tear ducts? Which is absolutely nothing to worry about and apparently is pretty common. It could simply be a bit of an eye infection. Maybe take him to the GP just to check. 🩷 I hope it gets better soon! xx
