My DS is 7 and have had issues with him lying for a while now but today was a whole other ballpark. We went for his eye test at the opticians and he just faked the whole thing. To an extent where if his eyes were as bad as he was making out he wouldn't of been able to do half the things he does. We ended up being there for an hour and they even put drops in his eyes, they were so patient with him because obviously they have a legal duty to their patients, I knew he was putting it on and so did she, at the end they gave him a prescription for distance glasses. He wasn't very happy about this and has now admitted to me he was pretending. I've tried to ask him what did he think was going to happen what did he want to happen ect and he says the same thing as he always says in these situations is that he can't help but do the wrong thing something in his head tells him to, he now says he feels stupid and he should just stay in his room, I feel terrible for him. I just feel like I'm out of my depth here and I'm not sure if this is normal part of development?? Or do I seek help?? This is his response to misbehaving too not just lying.
