Contrast between first and second children and development

Ds2 is now nearly 10 months. At this age, Ds1 had four teeth (at least)
Could crawl, backwards as well as forwards
Could stand up and cruise round the furniture
And took his first independent steps a few days before 10 months.
He also had a couple of words I think.

Ds2 can sit.
He has one tooth.
He can wriggle on his tummy and almost get to things a few feet away if he tries really hard and wriggles a lot.
He cannot say anything distinct.

He can stand holding onto things but is very wobbly.

on the other hand, he is very happy - more than Ds1 was.

It's just really interesting how different they are! I wonder how his speech will be now.

Anyone else got opposites?

It's seems a long time ago but I'm sure DS2 did things 'faster', although it could be that I wasn't so attentive so didn't notice everything as much as I did with my PFB.

Both of mine were early talkers and late walkers. But the big thing I notice is the difference in their personalities. Dd is a typical first child perfectionist - ds is a typical second child laid back hippy!

DS1 (now 2.9) didn't crawl or pull himself up until over 1yr and didn't walk until 16 mths. He was also slow at feeding himself and didn't babble at all (suddenly started talking at 18mths and never stopped since. ) Now he's very bright and physical and has very good language for his age. He was just taking it all in.

DS2 (now 9 mths) started crawling at 7 months and pulling himself up at 8. Also definitely "talks" more. He's also brill at feeding himself.

It's amazing how they're all so different!!

mine are very different too

ds was pretty angelic; dd is very feisty

ds would have sat in his stroller till he was 4 if we'd let him and would have happily have let us spoon feed him, he had a fantastic vocabularly from very young

dd (now 18 months) already prefers to walk everywhere, likes to feed herself but has way fewer words than ds did

both adorable, love them to bits but so very different. wonder what no 3'll be like?!

everyone was always telling me girls are quicker than boys, and that second babies are always faster than the first....complete tosh!! dd is the second child, is 23mths and is only just starting to say understandable words in a 'chatty' way....was way behind ds all the way to where we are...months behind on sitting, crawling, walking, talking.....but we're not bothered one bit....its nice still feeling like she's our baby.....though i suppose ds grew up a but faster as he was only 15.5mths when dd arrived....he seemed SOOOOOOOO grown up then already!!

DS1 could write his name at 2 and a half, DS2 can only even just say his
