Baby MMR Jabs post 3 weeks

Hi all,

Looking for some advice (FTM).

My 14 months old had her MMR jabs almost 3 weeks ago. For 2 weeks after, she had a high temp of 40 and cried and whinged for about 2 weeks straight. We've had 1 good week, but today she has developed a rash and a fever all over again.

Can someone tell me if they've had this experience?

This MMR jab has been absolutely savage. I'm still glad we had it done, but the side effects have been chaotic to say the least!

TIA

I'd take her back to the GP today.

You can get reactions with the MMR for a few weeks after because the different parts of the jab start to work at different times. That said, I think three weeks is on the later side for a rash (not unheard of, just later than average), so I'd want her checked to be sure.

@JS1809 how long did the rash last for? My DD is similar, jabs nearly two weeks ago and so whiny and miserable not her normal happy self at all and covered in a rash. Just wondering how you got on and if it cleared up quickly x

Hi!

I took a lot of comfort in reading the side effects in the red book! It eased me a lot!

I would say 4 weeks tops and then we saw a difference! In that 4 week period, she had a rash and was so so so whingey- I barely coped!!!

@JS1809 aw thank you!! I’ll dig out my red book. She’s so sad, we’ve really struggled the last few days, she’s usually so happy but she’s just clinging to me 🙁 hopefully be on the mend soon x

Awww- I feel your pain completely! I worried that we'd never see the end of it, but it did eventually go and it'll get better!
