Hearing loss in 10 week old after antibiotics to treat infection

Hello,

My now 10 week old little girl was in hospital at 6 weeks with a uti/kidney infection. She was on several antibiotics for a few days until they could narrow down as to what was the cause of the high infection number. I have noticed in the last 2 weeks that she isn't reacting to any noise or sound, this includes mine and my husbands voices & her brothers loud screaming. She's not even flinching at a loud noise not to mind looking in the direction of it. In the beginning I thought it might be a developmental thing because she passed her newborn screening test and reacted to noise before her hospital stay. I have contacted my doctor and PHN to try and get a referral to audiology but PHN wants to go down developmental root. The antibiotics she was on can cause hearing loss and I'm terrified that my daughters hearing in gone now and irreversible.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or if anyone had a positive outcome story where the hearing was in fact a developmental issue and improved.

Please I'm at my wits end.

Sorry, no personal experience, but I hope you get some answers soon. You could try posting in Children's Health, and you might find someone with experience of the antibiotics side of it?
