Hello I’m hoping anyone can help me because doctors and health visitors aren’t listening to me.

this is a bit of a long story so please bare with me.

My little boy is now 12 weeks old and since we brought him home we have had issues with his milk.

he started off on kendamil but he became fussy, colicky and had reflux, doctors gave him gaviscon for the reflux and then he became severely constipated and none of the usual tricks were working to get him moving so we took him off the gaviscon assuming that made him constitutional and changed his milk to SMA pro as we thought kendamil was a bit to rich for him. The constipation didn’t resolve itself so we took him off the gaviscon and put him on to SMA comfort under advice from the HV and at this point he was also getting his tongue tie cut and for about a week he was settled but he was having the smelly dark green sludge like poo’s and then he became uncomfortable again, drawing his legs up, not drinking his bottle or sleeping so we put this down to that the comfort milk had done its job and maybe we need to put him back on the SMA PRO, we did this and he was okay for a week and then the reflux symptoms and the constipating came back, we went to the doctors and they said to put him back on the comfort milk and the same cycle started again.

we are at a complete loss as to what to do or what this could be, I’ve seen that some of this could be CMPA but he is now 12 weeks and apparently that should resolve itself now or it’s lactose intolerance or that his body just didn’t like SMA/Kendamil but I also don’t want to keeping messing him around with his milk 😭

if anyone has had this and could tell me how they resolved it I would be grateful, I’m a mum at the end of my rope 😢

it takes a good couple of weeks on a different formula for the baby to completely settle on it. Unfortunately a new milk can cause green, sludgy, stinky poos and tummy aches and gas for a while so it might be best to stick to one and ride out the digestive issues, so long as baby is eating and gaining weight. Comfort milk (aptamil, but they're all much of a muchness) has worked well for us, it's easier to digest, slightly thicker so weirdly did make poos less frequent for a couple of weeks but oncd settled it did help. Digestive issues do tend to improve around the 3-4 month mark anyway so hopefully things will improve soon!

Sorry just laughing at the CMPA to resolve itself. Who in earth has told you that gem? I'm in my 50s and still waiting for it to resolve Wink
