3 year old speech delay

So my daughter is 3 years 4 months and her speech is definitely behind what it should be. She says lots of words but mispronounces quite a lot too and isn't putting long sentences together, maybe simple 3 word sentences mostly. She had an assessment done at a children's centre who said she scored high on her understanding and didn't think she would qualify for SALT on the NHS but I said I wanted her to be put forward for it anyway. This was 2 months ago and still haven't heard anything back. Is it worth pushing with the GP or HV for more support or a diagnosis? She doesn't have a free preschool place till Sept when she will be nearly 4. Paying privately at the moment for her to go to a playgroup 4 hours a day 5 days a week which is all we can afford really. Looked at prices for private speech therapy but don't think we can afford that. I think if we had a diagnosis she may be offered a free preschool place earlier

Do you know what assessment they used? Was it the Ages & Stages?
