....and still in 3/4 clothes.

Got his feet measured today and his feet have not grown for nearly a year.

Now dh was a shrimp when he was younger, but had a spurt at around 14 years. I was also the shortest in my class throughout school.

Anyone else with a dinky child?

Should I worry?

glaskham · 21/03/2008 18:07

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 18:08

rejoice in the fact that clothes last longer

noddyholder · 21/03/2008 18:08

My ds is 13 nearly 14 nad has always been little He takes a size 4 and most of his friends are 7 plus.He also still wears h&m age 11-12 but is fit healthy and happy and i have given up worrying tbh.He grew a whole inch in january and is still the smallest but is teh cutest so i am happy with that Stop worrying i spent years doing that and it was exhausting

foxinsocks · 21/03/2008 18:09

dd started school in reception and was only JUST a size 7. We couldn't find those black velcro shoes for school (though see they have a lot in smaller sizes).

She's in yr3 now and only just a size 11 (really should still be a 10.5) lol little dinky feet.

You'll probably find you'll buy his summer sandals in a few month's time and then immediately go up two sizes and all the summer shoes would have been sold already

Miggsie · 21/03/2008 18:12

DD has not gone a shoe size since last August...

DrNortherner · 21/03/2008 18:13

I hadn't worried about it really. Just that today when his feet were measured I thought blimey they have not grown in 10 months.

Also his school jumpers and shirts are the same ones he started reception in. He's in Year 1 now

Glad to nkow there are other littlies out there.

Plus, it helps on public transport cause I don't pay for him

also my ds is a size 6 feet at age 3, but he's been that size since he had just turned 2, so over 15mths and his feet haven't grown a bit!!

BoysAreLikeBunnies · 21/03/2008 18:17

DS2 had his feet measured last weekend. He will be 6 in two weeks, his feet are 10 and a half, been that size since August, still got the same school shoes that we got back then

Altough we have been through 3 pairs of trainers eek

kittywise · 21/03/2008 18:20

all mine are dinky, they can have the same pair of shoes all year, saves masses of money.
Well they are all dinky apart from number five who is bloody massive, I've no idea what genes she's got, throw back child .

bandgeek · 21/03/2008 18:28

My DD is 23 months and takes size 9-12 months on the top and 6-9 month in trousers and skirts. Her shoe size is a 4, and has been for the past year. She was 8lb 12oz when she was born too!

It can be a bit of a pain sometimes as a lot of the clothes her size are more baby than toddler, IYKWIM.

LIZS · 21/03/2008 18:29

dd 's like that - 6 1/2 and a 9.5/10 shoe. She's in her uniform for 3rd year !

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 21/03/2008 18:30

I shouldn't fret - ds has wee feet I think for a ten yr old - only recently into a size 2, his feet grow very slowly. He was weighed and measured yesterday an is on about 25th percentile

ambercat · 21/03/2008 18:33

Ds1 is 8 next month, size 11 feet, age 6 clothes and is 2nd smallest in his class!

Still wearing reception jumpers and now in yr3,(looking a bit scruffy now!!).

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 18:38

I.m waiting for his growth spurt.

DD3 was like this, really tiny, and then had her tonsils out at 5 and shot up, grew thro 2yrs clothes sizes in about 6mths. made up for the fact that she was 8lb born, 15lb on her first b/day and still in some 0-3mths clothes......saved me fortune then for me to fork out for when she grew later.

she is now 9 and in the same size clothes as DD2 who is 12, and the same size feet too!!!!!

DS2 was 7.12 born, and then dropped off his centiles cos he has a bowel problem and so doesn;t grow very fast (was 16lb on his first b/day), but he is healthy enough now just little and cute (altho he hates me for asying that). I am sure tho that he will shoot up soon, just as I am stocking up summer stuff in the current size

Mercy · 21/03/2008 18:45

My dd is 7 next month and wears size 11 shoes, wears anything from 4/5 to 5/6 clothes. dd's 'problem 'is that she has long legs but is super slim)

She is shorter (and certainly more slight) than most of her classmates.

Joash · 21/03/2008 18:48

GS is like this. currently on the way to being 6 - in a size 9 shoe and clothes for a 3/4 year old (some even 2/3).
His shoe size has only just gone up, he's been in an 8 for a whole year.

bigdonna · 24/03/2008 16:04

would loved my ds to have been dinky at 4.6 he was size 13.5 hes now 10 and size 7.i think his first shoes were a size 6,at 1yr old

kerryk · 24/03/2008 18:18

my dd 6.4 is the same as the op's son. only diffrence is myself and my husband are both really tall.

she takes a size 9 shoe, trousers are age 3-4, tops 4-5 and some of her skirts are still age 2.

my youngset dayghter (4 this week) is also tiny. she is a 6 shoe and some of her skirts are still 9-12 months

i spoke to my doctor about it but as there hight and weight match up on the charts he says there is not a problem.

dd1 is a head shorter than her friends in p2 and even a lot of the p1 kids tower over her. everyone treats her like a little doll.
