Hi all,
I have a 7 week old, and at 6 week's I took her to family to visit for the week.
Up until 6 week's she hadn't had a dummy, she hadn't needed one. Yeah she had upset moment's but we were settling her nice and easy, so I didn't want to introduce a dummy until I felt the time was right.
Anyhow when we were visiting family, my auntie took over some childcare duties so I could get a little break and she introduced a dummy more than I would have liked, I didn't raise the issue because I felt I didn't want an argument over something as simple as a dummy and I'd already stated I was okay with dummy use, just so long as it wasn't when it's not needed.
I enjoyed my break but by the end of the week, my little one had a dummy in pretty much any time she cried - now I'm home, she's inconsolable when previously she'd have been unsettled but I feel she's now looking for it? Could that be the case? Can you create a habit in a 6 week old in the course of a week? I just want to know because if it is, I can deal with that. But I get worried that maybe she's crying for other reasons but as far as I can tell, she's fine otherwise. No ailments, illnesses, irritations.
It's not the end of the world, it really isn't, I'm not anti dummy and we will continue with it if its what she needs. I just as any mum, wanted it to be on my terms for when and what I thought was in my baby's best interests.
